If you experience a full backup destination such as a USB attached backup drive, you will need to prune the number of iterations of backup help.
To do this run the following command form a command line. It is easier to first assign a drive letter to the USB drive.
WBADMIN DELETE BACKUP -keepVersions:<No. of copies> -BackupTarget:<VolumeName>
